Privacy policy
VidFeather works on your Mac and keeps your videos there. This page explains, in full, the little information that does leave it, and what this website collects.
Last updated November 1, 2026
The short version
- Your videos, file names and anything about your library never leave your Mac.
- The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporter and no advertising.
- The free version never connects to the internet. Pro connects only to activate and refresh its license.
- This website uses Google Analytics only if you click Allow.
- We never sell personal information.
Who we are
“VidFeather”, “we” and “us” mean the developer of the VidFeather app and the operator of vidfeather.com. For anything about privacy, write to support@vidfeather.com.
The VidFeather app
Your videos and your library
With your permission, VidFeather reads your Photos library to list videos, exports the originals you choose, compresses them, imports the copies and adds them to albums. With your separate permission, it asks Photos to copy titles, captions and keywords. All of this happens on your Mac. Exported originals and copies are kept in a folder you choose, by default ~/Movies/VidFeather. None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
Sensors
For quiet mode, VidFeather reads your Mac’s fan speed and temperature. These readings are used on the spot and are never stored or sent.
License activation
When you enter a Pro license key, VidFeather sends our activation server, over an encrypted connection:
- the license key, so it can be checked with our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy;
- a machine hash: a one-way SHA-256 hash of your Mac’s hardware identifier combined with a value specific to VidFeather. It tells your Macs apart but cannot be turned back into the identifier;
- the version of VidFeather.
The server stores a hash of the key (never the key itself), the Lemon Squeezy order number, and for each activated Mac its machine hash, the app version and the dates of activation and the latest refresh. About once every 30 days the app refreshes its activation by sending the signed activation record, the machine hash and the app version. Deactivating a Mac sends the activation record and machine hash and deletes that Mac’s entry.
The server sees your IP address with each request, as every server does. To stop people guessing keys, it counts activation attempts per address for ten minutes; the counter then expires. Addresses are not stored with your license.
We use this information to deliver what you bought and to prevent license abuse. We keep it for as long as the license exists. A refund or chargeback revokes the license, and the record notes that.
Purchases
Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details, handles taxes and sends your receipt and license key. Their privacy policy applies to that. We receive the order details (name, email address, country, product and order number) so we can help you and process refunds. We never receive your card details.
This website
Hosting
vidfeather.com is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, it processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you request in order to deliver them and keep the site secure. Fonts and images are served from this site; no other third-party requests are made unless you allow analytics.
Analytics, only with your consent
When you first visit, a notice asks whether we may count your visit. If you click Allow, we load Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years, and tells us things like which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which buttons are clicked. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses. Advertising features and data sharing for ads are turned off.
If you click No thanks, or do nothing, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage under vf-consent and is not sent to us. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
When you write to support@vidfeather.com or use an “Email me” link, we receive your email address and message. Mail to our domain is forwarded by Cloudflare to our mailbox at Google, and our replies are sent through Resend. We use it only to answer you or to send the single message you asked for, and delete it on request.

Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to its use or ask for it in a portable form. You can withdraw consent to analytics at any time. Write to support@vidfeather.com; we answer within 30 days. Deleting your license record deactivates Pro on all your Macs. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

VidFeather and this website are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
